Pharmaceutical Compliance

Prescription Policy & Clinical Verification

Governed by the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Pharmacy Practice Regulations, India

1. Mandatory Requirement of Valid Prescription

Under Indian healthcare law, medicines classified under Schedule H, Schedule H1, and Schedule X cannot be lawfully sold or dispensed over the counter without a written prescription signed by a Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP).

2. Criteria for a Legally Valid Prescription

To be approved by our clinical pharmacists, uploaded prescription slips must visibly display:

  • Full name, medical qualification, and State / National Medical Council Registration Number of the prescribing doctor.
  • Official clinic / hospital letterhead, date of consultation, and physical or verifiable digital signature.
  • Patient's full name, age, and gender.
  • Generic drug name, specific strength, dosage regimen (e.g. 500mg twice daily), and total treatment duration.

3. Uploading Does Not Equal Automatic Approval

Crucial Patient Notice: Submitting or uploading an image of a prescription on the VEDHA website or app does not automatically approve or dispense medication. Every order is subject to direct audit by a licensed clinical pharmacist.

4. Grounds for Prescription Rejection

A prescription will be declined if it is blurry or illegible, exceeds its clinical validity period, is missing doctor registration details, or exhibits signs of physical alteration or tampering. In such cases, the user is notified with specific reasoning.

5. Prohibition of Habit-Forming & Schedule X Drugs

VEDHA does not facilitate or deliver narcotics, psychotropic substances, or Schedule X drugs requiring duplicate retention slips. Such medications must be acquired exclusively through licensed offline clinical establishments.
